Landon Madden claims individual gold as Delton Kellogg cross country shines at the Coach B Invitational YANKEE SPRINGS, MI — The Delton Kellogg varsity cross country teams delivered a spectacular performance yesterday afternoon at the Thornapple Kellogg Coach B Invitational, contested over the 5,000-meter course at Yankee Springs State Park. Boys Varsity Take First Place Overall The Panther boys squad captured 1st place overall in the Kellogg Division with a dominant team score of 22 points, comfortably outscoring Hopkins (54), Wyoming (77), Vermontville Maple Valley (94), and Wyoming Lee (132). Landon Madden led the pack, taking 1st place overall with a winning time of 17:22.0. Jace Hilton crossed the line in 3rd place overall (18:14.1). Malachi Allersma took 4th place overall (18:19.9). Joseph McCoy notched a Season Best (18:29.4) for 6th place overall. Ayden Jones placed 8th overall (19:16.7) to round out the scoring five. Abram Kellogg (9th, 19:39.8) and Trace McCoy (10th, Personal Best 19:46.4) also placed in the top 10. Additional strong finishes included Lucas Doubledee (13th, SB 20:03.7), Camilo Gonzalez (19th, SB 21:13.7), Jack Favreau (21st, 21:19.8), Carter Cooper (37th, PB 24:10.6), Malachi Martin (38th, SB 24:40.4), Isaiah Kellogg (40th, 26:15.3), Nick Morey (42nd, 29:58.6), and Evan Fleser (43rd, 37:55.0). --- Girls Varsity Claims 2nd Place The Lady Panthers secured a strong 2nd place team finish with 40 points, behind division winner Hopkins (19 points). Riley Perley paced the team, taking 5th place overall (4th team score) with a Personal Best of 22:50.7. Olivia Gonzalez ran a Personal Best of 24:12.7 to place 6th overall (5th team score). Evelynn Courneya ran a Season Best 24:55.9 (12th overall). Madison Gruber achieved a Personal Best of 25:21.1 (13th overall). Peyton Danks placed 17th overall (26:25.5) as the 5th scoring runner. Makayla Lutz rounded out the varsity squad in 19th place (28:03.9). Looking Ahead Both Panthers squads will look to carry their momentum into tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 16) as they travel to Fennville High School for the first conference jamboree of the season. Racing begins at 5:00 PM.
