Myers spent the past two school years as the assistant athletic director, working under athletic director Dr. Greta Munger. It was announced in March that Munger would be taking over as Delton Kellogg High School principal following the retirement of Jim Hogoboom. “The last two years here have been really good to me. I know a lot of the systems that have already been put in place by myself and Greta. I am looking forward to new improvements each and every year, and seeing what the future holds for Delton Kellogg athletics,” Myers said. The near future holds a fully renovated football stadium at Delton Kellogg High School. Construction is going on throughout the summer to complete projects paid for by the bond passed by Delton Kellogg voters in May of 2025. Those projects include a new team building at the south end of the stadium, new guest bleachers on the west side of the stadium, a new press box now on the east side of the stadium, scoreboard and sound system updates, and improvements to the sidewalks to make bleachers more ADA accessible to the community. A new press box sits on top of the home bleachers on the east side of the Delton Kellogg High School football stadium. Improvements coming to the stadium this summer include a new set of visitor bleachers on the other side of the stadium, improved sidewalks, a new team building at the south end of the stadium, improvements to the scoreboard and sound system, and more. Improvements coming to the stadium this summer include a new set of visitor bleachers on the other side of the stadium, improved sidewalks, a new team building at the south end of the stadium, improvements to the scoreboard and sound system, and more. A crane has already raised the press box above the home bleachers. The walls are nearly completed on the new team building which will host team rooms for home and visiting teams, a training room, as well as additional restrooms closer to the west side bleachers than the ones near the current concessions stand by the stadium entrance. Myers said he expects the roof on the team building to go up soon. “I’m excited for all of it,” Delton Kellogg varsity football coach Brooks Smith said. “I think it’ll be nice to have that room available and ready for us at halftime, and before games, and the new and bigger press box was definitely much needed. We’re excited. We’re happy the community passed the bond and we’re excited about the pace of progress, how things are moving forward.” A former concession stand at the south end of the stadium served as a team room for a time, and was used for storage as well. At some point, the plumbing failed. “I think the first year, we used it most of the season,” Smith said, “and then I got to a point where I was just like, you know what, we’ll just get to the back of the end zone and we’ll make our adjustments there. It’ll be nice to have a space with some white boards and some seating – away from the distractions of the band, and fans and cheerleaders and all that.” “It definitely happened,” he added. “I was occasionally, oh the band sounds good this week. I mean, it happens. It’s human nature.” Opposing football teams previously used locker rooms at the middle school to prep for games. The improvements aren’t just for football. Myers is expecting soccer teams, track and field teams, flag football teams, baseball and softball teams and cross country teams to be able to take advantage of the new amenities. Myers said his hiring as athletic director was approved by the school board March 20 and his contract was approved at the June 16 board meeting. He is looking forward to continuing the progress he feels has been made the past two years in the athletic department, with a focus on improving communication with student-athletes, the different programs and the community and really pushing community engagement. A graduate of Aquinas College, Myers earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Business Administration, and Sport Management according his DK Schools bio. He is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership: K-12 Principalship and Athletic Administration from Western Michigan University, continuing his commitment to educational and athletic excellence. He also is looking forward to starting a captains clinic for student-athletes in the fall, taking inspiration from the Aquinas Association of Student Athletes which he was a part of as a bowler with the Saints. “Athletes will be able to give input, and help out with the day-to-day athletic tasks that I may have on hand for them, as well as just helping to enhance the game day experience for all of our athletes – so all of our athletes have a voice,” Myers said.
