Ticket Punched! Panthers Golf Secures State Finals Berth with Clutch Regional Performance CENTREVILLE, MI — May 26, 2026 The Delton Kellogg boys varsity golf team is heading to the state finals. The Panthers put together a spectacular team performance at Island Hills Golf Club to capture third place at the MHSAA LP Boys D3 Regional 15 tournament, successfully punching their ticket to the upcoming state finals. Delton Kellogg carded a collective score of 321 (+33) to safely secure the third and final qualifying position, comfortably outlasting fourth-place Cassopolis by nine strokes. Schoolcraft claimed the regional title with a team score of 313 (+25), while Kalamazoo Christian finished just ahead of the Panthers in second with a 315 (+27). Dynamic Duo Leads the Charge The Panthers were propelled by dominant, steady performances at the very top of their lineup. Sophomore Jason Marshall and junior Grady Matteson played brilliant golf under regional pressure, both firing matching rounds of 76 (+4) to finish in a tie for fourth place overall in a highly competitive individual field. Senior Carter Brickley also delivered a clutch performance when his team needed it most. Brickley cracked the individual top ten by carding a rock-solid 80 (+8), landing him in a tie for 10th place overall. Rounding out the state-qualifying effort for the Panthers were senior Tyler Howland, who carded an 89 (+17) , and senior Gabe Smoczynski, who finished the day with a 105 (+33). Next Stop: Bedford Valley With the regional hurdles cleared, the Panthers will now shift their focus to the ultimate stage in Michigan high school golf. Delton Kellogg will travel to Bedford Valley on June 5th and 6th, where they will proudly represent their school and compete in the MHSAA Division 3 State Finals.
