PANTHERS STORM THROUGH THE WEATHER TO CLAIM SQUIRE INVITE CHAMPIONSHIP Boys dominate Small Schools division at Oakestown with 125 points; Lady Panthers fight hard in highly competitive field --- GRANDVILLE, MI — May 19, 2026 — After severe spring weather rolled through the region Monday evening, the Delton Kellogg boys track and field team unleashed a storm of their own on the oval. Putting on a masterclass of depth, versatility, and athletic dominance, the Panthers racked up an incredible 125 points to capture first place out of 10 competing teams in the Mens Varsity Small division of the Squire JV Invitational. Held at Davies Field on the campus of Oakestown Intermediate School, the Panthers comfortably outpaced their nearest divisional competitors, the GRTC Peregrines (94 points) and Saugatuck (92 points). The championship victory was defined not just by raw scoring power, but by the outstanding adaptability of the roster. Panther athletes locked in numerous season and career bests throughout the night. Competing under a tight schedule modified by the weather delays, several team members stepped completely out of their comfort zones, entering events outside their typical areas of expertise to secure vital team points. Leading the charge for Delton Kellogg was standout athlete Landon Madden, who delivered a spectacular individual performance. Madden proved to be an unstoppable triple-threat, capturing three divisional meet championships across vastly different disciplines. He secured gold in the Long Jump, showcased his explosive speed to win the 100-meter Dash, and demonstrated elite endurance by taking the top spot in the grueling 800-meter Run. The Panthers also found gold in the field events, courtesy of powerhouse thrower Evan Fleser. Fleser dominated the Shot Put ring to claim a divisional championship. He later doubled back to pick up an additional medal in the Discus, placing third overall to anchor the throwing crew's scoring output. While individual champions grabbed the headlines, it was Delton Kellogg’s overwhelming depth that broke the meet wide open. Jack Favreau put together a heroic multi-event performance, netting a pair of second-place silver medals in both the High Jump and the Pole Vault, while fighting through a crowded field to add a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter Hurdles. The field event scoring bonanza continued in the Pole Vault pit, where Lucas Doubledee vaulted his way to a third-place finish, reinforcing Favreau's high-podium points. On the straightaway, Ryan Sinclair flashed impressive closing speed, racing his way to a second-place silver finish in a blisteringly fast 100-meter Dash final. DK's distance and mid-distance contingent also ensured the point tally kept climbing. Malachi Allersma endured a demanding double-milestone night, capturing second place in the 3200-meter Run and crossing the finish line fifth in the 1600-meter Run. Team captain depth was visible in the 3200m as Abram Kellogg secured a strong fourth-place finish right behind his teammate. In the 800-meter Run, the Panthers packed the podium behind Madden's victory, with Jace Hilton securing fourth and Ayden Jones pushing through for fifth. Meanwhile, hurdler Nick Muday navigated a technical race to secure a crucial fourth-place finish in the 300-meter Hurdles. With the Squire JV Invitational title safely in hand, the Panthers have proven they can perform under pressure, adverse weather, and sudden lineup shifts. The team will now utilize an extended training block to fine-tune their mechanics and peak at the absolute perfect time before heading to the MHSAA Division 3 State Championship at Kent City on May 30th. --- LADY PANTHERS SHOWCASE GRIT AND RESILIENCE IN CHALLENGING FIELD Not to be outdone by the championship run of the boys' squad, the Delton Kellogg girls track and field contingent turned in a gritty, resilient performance under the Monday night lights at Davies Field. Competing in the ultra-competitive Womens Varsity Small division , the Lady Panthers battled fierce regional programs and slick post-storm track conditions to secure 8th place overall, locking in 27 total team points. The small schools girls' bracket was ruled by a dominant performance from the GRTC Peregrines, who secured the top spot with 145 points, followed by Grandville Calvin Christian with 87 points and Wyoming Potter's House with 83 points. Despite facing deep rosters from across West Michigan, the Lady Panthers refused to back down, matching the boys' energy and logging a wave of personal-best and season-best marks across multiple event groups. The meet provided a critical developmental platform for the girls' roster, with several underclassmen stepping into high-leverage roles. Athletes filled out brackets and competed in events completely outside their normal comfort zones to secure crucial points for the team tally. From the short-sprint straightaways to the throwing rings, the Lady Panthers demonstrated remarkable progress and unwavering determination. With all 17 events officially completed across both divisions, the Delton Kellogg track program looks to carry this powerful mid-May momentum forward. The coaching staff expressed immense pride in how the entire program handled the weather adversity, setting a highly competitive and resilient tone for the remainder of the championship season. --- OFFICIAL SQUIRE JV INVITE SCOREBOARD Mens Varsity Small School Division 1.
