Delton Kellogg Track & Field Shines at Gull Lake Relays The Delton Kellogg Varsity Track & Field teams turned in a strong all-around performance at the Gull Lake Relays on Thursday, April 30, competing against a competitive field that included host Gull Lake, Plainwell, and Galesburg-Augusta. Both the boys and girls teams earned impressive third-place finishes, with the boys scoring 90 points and the girls adding 80 points on the day. These finishes highlight the depth and versatility of the Panther program in a meet format centered around relays and team scoring. Boys Recap The Delton Kellogg boys were led by several standout performances across both track and field events. In the field events, Nick Muday captured a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet to lead the Panthers. The jumping crew also made a strong impact, with Ryan Sinclair winning the long jump (18’ 0.5”), while Logan Damron and Jace Hilton added depth with top-eight finishes. On the track, Delton Kellogg showed strength in the relay events: The 4x400 relay team (Sinclair, Favreau, Wiebenga, Madden) placed 3rd with a time of 4:00.04. The 4x200 relay also earned 3rd place, running 1:44.69. The 4x800 relay secured another 3rd-place finish, showcasing the team’s distance depth. The throwers contributed valuable points as well, with Evan Fleser finishing 5th in both shot put and discus. Girls Recap The Delton Kellogg girls matched the boys with a third-place team finish, powered by strong relay performances and dominant field events. In the field: Violet Kokx led the way with a 1st-place finish in discus (74’ 3”) and added a 4th-place finish in shot put. Lily DeVries claimed 1st in high jump, clearing 4’ 8”. The Panthers dominated the long jump, with Brynlee Babbitt-Smith and Izabelle Gruber finishing 1st and 2nd, respectively. On the track, Delton Kellogg continued to rack up points: The 4x100 relay team placed 3rd (59.25). The 4x200 relay added another 3rd-place finish. The Sprint Medley Relay (800m) team also secured 3rd, highlighting the team’s balance across sprint and middle-distance events. Team Effort The Gull Lake Relays emphasize teamwork, versatility, and depth—and Delton Kellogg delivered across the board. With contributions from sprinters, distance runners, jumpers, and throwers, the Panthers demonstrated their ability to compete at a high level in a relay-style meet. Delton Kellogg continues to build momentum as the season progresses, with strong performances setting the tone for upcoming conference championship meet at Gobles on Tuesday, May 5th!
